Upon hearing these words, the handkerchief of the Sheikh moved slowly, like a cloud, revealing a pair of eyes that weakly glanced at the felt hat. From beneath those eyes, a voice emerged, softly and calmly reciting the following words, which were heard by all present: “Believer, do not let the reins of the rebellious soul fall into the hands of wrath and anger, for those who restrain their rage and forgive others…”

The felt hat, perplexed by these words, lingered in confusion. Since the only word that he understood from the Sheikh’s speech was “Kadhim,” he said, “No, sir, my servant’s name is not Kadhim, it’s Ramadan. What I mean is, I wish we understood why we’ve been buried alive here.”

Once again, with the same composure and complete recitation, the words from the holy side were uttered: “May God reward you, believer! What you’ve said is understood. Patience is the key to relief. I hope that soon the reason for our imprisonment will become clear. Surely, what will come is something pleasant to hear. Meanwhile, while waiting, the best occupation is to remember the Creator, which is indeed the best form of devotion.”
