Ramazan, the orphan, who didn’t understand a word of the refined Persian spoken by the esteemed Sheikh, seemed to think that the Sheikh was either conversing with spirits or reciting some mystical incantations. Signs of fear and anxiety appeared on his face, and he whispered “Bismillah” under his breath as he quietly began to step back. However, the Sheikh, whose jaw had clearly warmed up, continued without addressing anyone in particular, fixing his gaze on a patch of wall and, with his peculiar intonation, pursued his thoughts aloud:
“Perhaps the reason for the detention was for the sake of some higher interest or an unintentional error, and therefore, there is a strong hope that, barring unforeseen events, it will soon come to an end. It might even be that they have considered me non-existent and, without regard for my dignity and position, have handled me poorly, whether through intermediaries or directly, overtly or covertly, intentionally or unintentionally. Nevertheless, I have sought assistance from the high authorities, and undoubtedly, in accordance with the saying ‘seek, and you shall find,’ I will soon achieve my aim. The truth of the matter, as clear as the sun at midday, will be proven and widely known…”
