Why Does My Brain Love Overthinking?
Sometimes, my brain acts like a hamster running on a wheel. It keeps spinning in circles, analyzing every single thing. Did I say the right thing? Did that person think I was weird? Should I have laughed at that joke or stayed quiet? Even silly questions like, “Did I really lock the door?” keep popping up.
Apparently, overthinking is my brain’s way of trying to protect me. It’s like it says, “If you think about everything, you won’t make mistakes.” Well, nice try, brain! But instead of solving problems, it just makes me feel stuck, anxious, and tired.
Here’s the good news: I’ve learned how to deal with it. First, I remind myself that overthinking is normal. We all do it sometimes, and that’s okay. Next, I try to distract myself. I listen to music, go for a walk, or write things down to clear my head. And when the hamster really won’t stop running, I tell myself, “This is just a thought, not reality.”
