In a lush and beautiful forest, there lived a deer. He was very proud and arrogant, always wanting to be the best and the most beautiful. The deer took great pride in himself and thought that no one was as beautiful as he was. One day, he went to a nearby lake and began to boast about his beauty.
At that moment, a powerful and dignified lion passed by the lake. When the lion saw the deer, he said, “Dear deer, it seems you are very proud of yourself! Beauty is important, but strength and courage also hold significant value.”
The deer, scoffing at the lion's words, replied, “Beauty is the best trait! I revel in my beauty and pay no attention to anything else!”
The lion heard these words and simply laughed. He knew that one day, his strength and courage would be more important than the deer's beauty.
A few days later, news spread throughout the forest that a hunter had come to the woods. All the animals were extremely worried. Despite the fear, the deer still boasted about his beauty, thinking he would never be in danger.
The hunter entered the forest and began to hunt animals. The deer, consumed by his self-importance, did not notice that the hunter was approaching him. Suddenly, he heard the sound of a gunshot and realized he needed to escape.
At that moment, the lion approached the deer and said, "If you had valued strength and courage instead of beauty, you wouldn’t be in danger now!" The deer came to his senses and tried to flee from the hunter, but he was so caught up in his vanity that he had no time to escape.
The lion, being more renowned than all, leapt toward the hunter and scared him away. The deer realized that beauty alone could not save him, and from that day on, he tried to focus more on his strength and courage.
Moral of the Story
This story reminds us that beauty is not the only criterion for evaluation, and that strength, courage, and inner qualities have greater importance. Moreover, we should recognize the significance of cooperation and helping one another during difficult times. People should also strive to strengthen their courage, skills, and personal powers instead of indulging in self-admiration.
