Benny the donkey

Once upon a time in a small village, there lived a donkey named Benny. Benny was no ordinary donkey; he had a knack for mischief and a talent for making everyone laugh. His best friend was a wise old tortoise named Tilly, who often found herself shaking her head at Benny's antics.

One sunny morning, Benny decided he wanted to impress the villagers with his "magical" abilities. He trotted over to the village square, where everyone was gathered, and announced, “Ladies and gentlemen! Prepare to be amazed by the incredible Benny the Magnificent!”

The villagers, amused by his enthusiasm, gathered around. Benny cleared his throat dramatically and said, "For my first trick, I will make this carrot disappear!" He pointed to a bright orange carrot that Farmer Joe had just set down.

With a flourish, Benny picked up the carrot and took a big bite. The villagers gasped in surprise. "Ta-da!" he exclaimed, with bits of carrot flying everywhere. “Now you see it, now you don't!”

The crowd erupted in laughter. Not one to be discouraged, Benny continued, "For my next trick, I will make myself fly!" He climbed onto a nearby haystack, flapped his ears like wings, and jumped off—only to land with a thud in a muddy puddle.

Covered in mud but still undeterred, Benny stood up and declared, "Well, that was just a test flight! Now for my grand finale!" He spotted Tilly slowly making her way over and had a brilliant idea. “Tilly! Come here! I need your help!”

Tilly raised an eyebrow but obliged. Benny whispered his plan, and soon they were ready. Benny positioned himself behind Tilly and pretended to pull an invisible rope. “Ladies and gentlemen, behold! I shall now lift Tilly into the air!”

The villagers watched in anticipation as Benny strained and grunted, pulling with all his might. Tilly, being quite heavy for a tortoise, remained firmly on the ground. But Benny wasn’t about to give up. He puffed out his cheeks and pulled harder until—*pop!*—he accidentally let go of the invisible rope.

Benny flew backward into the air (well, sort of) and landed right in the middle of Farmer Joe’s vegetable stand, sending tomatoes and cucumbers flying everywhere! The villagers burst into laughter as Benny emerged from the chaos with a tomato stuck on his head like a crown.

With a sheepish grin and bits of vegetable clinging to him, Benny raised his muddy hooves and exclaimed, “Who needs magic when you have... *vegetable acrobatics!*”

From that day on, Benny became the village clown, always finding new ways to make everyone laugh—whether it was slipping on a banana peel or getting stuck in the mud. And every time he did something silly, Tilly would just shake her head and say, “You know, Benny, if you were any more magical, you'd be a walking salad!”

And they all laughed until they cried—especially Benny, who realized that sometimes the best magic comes from being yourself… even if that means wearing a tomato crown!
